RustDesk Remote Access Setup Guide
This document provides installation and configuration instructions for setting up RustDesk, a remote desktop software, on various operating systems.
Installation
Download the appropriate installer for your operating system:
- Linux (Debian/Ubuntu): rustdesk-1.4.1-x86_64.deb
- macOS (Apple Silicon): rustdesk-1.4.1-aarch64.dmg
- Windows: rustdesk-1.4.1-x86_64.exe
Installation Instructions
Windows
- Download the .exe file
- Double-click to run the installer
- Follow the on-screen instructions
- Launch RustDesk after installation
macOS
- Download the .dmg file
- Open the downloaded file
- Drag RustDesk to your Applications folder
- Open RustDesk from Applications (you may need to approve it in Security & Privacy settings)
Linux (Debian/Ubuntu)
sudo apt install ./rustdesk-1.4.1-x86_64.deb
Configuration
After installation, configure RustDesk with these settings:
- Open RustDesk
- Navigate to Settings (gear icon)
- Go to the "Network" tab
- In the "ID Server" field, enter:
rustdesk.crazystorm-andromeda.duckdns.org - Click "OK" to save
Device IDs and Encryption Key
Use the following device IDs for remote connections:
- macOS: 14 692 558
- Mom's Device: 67 860 724
- Windows 11: 232 385 965
Encryption Key
For secure connections, use this encryption key when prompted:
dIzhpAU4gOiNQZJcGis0Hh2T16x2ZfwgZB3ob69LiIk=
Usage Instructions
- Launch RustDesk on both devices
- On the controlling device, enter the ID of the device you want to connect to
- When prompted, enter the encryption key
- Accept the connection request on the remote device
Troubleshooting
- If connections fail, verify the ID server address is correctly entered
- Ensure both devices are connected to the internet
- Check that your firewall isn't blocking RustDesk
- Make sure you're using the correct device ID and encryption key
